Preserving Jobs vs. Educating Children

To the Editor,
The superintendent finally admitted one of his priorities is “preserving jobs.” He intends to keep adults and education professionals employed in this district. The hard truth is that’s not his job. His job is to educate our children. If he has to fire lazy employees and lousy teachers and counselors … so be it.

The education of our children and job preservation do not mix. These two goals go in opposite directions. Education should be treated like a business. Welfare through jobs belongs to the uneducated and incompetent, and they too can be helped by a good education or firm.

I remember a good friend of mine complaining about other people taking his/her job for cheaper pay. I told that person the solution was to get an education instead of going on welfare. In the end, I noticed that person did want to make an effort to better himself/herself.

The philosophy I believe this superintendent practices is welfare – welfare through jobs for the adults and welfare for our children through a bad education.

To all readers: Don’t remind me this district received a “Recognized” rating, because if you do I will inform you and show you the state lowered the bar and this district benefitted from it.

Also, the state came out with a recent report showing the district had a high expenditure rate. It was dismissed for being two years old. Well, I have news for you, this year appears to be higher with less students. But since shame is absent in these leaders, nothing will be done unless the state sends less welfare money. Then they will want credit for reducing expenditures.

Today, I end with this: I noticed no one has written about these problems with the school district or the police department. Have you forgotten this is your school district and your police department? Has this community embraced a Mexican style government with a Mexican style education? We are already teaching our children in Spanish. What is next? The Mexican Constitution?

You are absolutely right on! Education is not the Boards top priority, and sure has not been for several years. The Broad runs the show for the Superintendent, who becomes a puppet on a string. The Board pulls the Puppet’s strings which are controlled by the board members.

Why have a board that has not help raise the level of education of our children. The community must start demanding that the Superintendent do the job he is highly paid to do. This Board need to stop making decisions for their own personal gain. Education needs to get better, our children are the ones that will suffer In the long run. YES the Board Members need to GO,!

  1. @Mr.Perez
You are totally correct and have figured out what this new board is all about. They gave Limon a 2 year contract knowing exactly all the issues plaguing our district before reinstating him back.. We have major issues with our district and it starts with Arnold Padilla, Angel Mendez, Anna Cruz and Oscar Medrano who stand for their for their personnel gain at the expense of our children and tax dollars.. Keep up and good work sir and continue to expose these misfits at their game.. I agree ANNA CRUZ MUST GO 2015!!!!! People vote smart, Ann out!!!’

Maybe he’s (superintendent) just adressing one thing at a time preserve jods(retension) first then work on educateing the children next. He’s putting on one boot at a time.

Mr Perez is is absolutely right he summonded it all up on the fist paragraph. The rest of his letter was very articulate.

You don’t even make good background noise anymore. Why does the SB News still continue to print your incoherent ramblings, I’ll never know.

Mr. Perez, you are correct, that is the way the school district is run. I applaud you for seeing reality, while others are content with sitting back and letting our future, our children becoming less and less educated. Then they go to college and cannot make it, or it takes them twice as long to graduate because they do not have the knowledge they need to pass the classes. Now, let’s band together and make a difference. Bring the people of San Benito together so our children can get the education they deserve. BC is the prime example of how schools should be managed.

To the concerned citizen: Are you one of those lazy teachers that does not care about anything else but keeping a job so you kiss up or are you just interested in keeping a paycheck and sit back and say nothing, do nothing, or are you one of their relatives, or even the superintendent? Because Mr. Perez is correct and you will soon see that… Citizens of San Benito, awaken, it is our children that are being wronged. Step up and speak out. Its time for a change, and that change is now. God Bless

People don’t listen to anything you have to say anymore, sir. It should be obvious to everyone by now that you are merely background noise, with nothing meaningful to say. Sure, you keep the SB News busy reading your nonsensical rants, but that is about the sum of it. Get a life.
