Robert “Bob” Robinson

Bob went home to his Heavenly Father Sunday, June 5 at 2:11 a.m. at Harlingen Medical Center Hospital. His caretaker for the last 10 months and good friend for 16 years, Mary Christian was at his bedside as was Ginny Herman.

He was born on April 3, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to James L. and Florella Robinson. They have preceded him in death.

He was in sales for most of his life and sold Ambusol oil from the flea market in Brownsville as a hobby.

Bob was a quiet person but enjoyed several different activities at Fun-N-Sun resort where he resided. He was active in shuffleboard and entered several tournaments valley-wide with his friend, Mary Christian. Also playing cards with his friends and going out to eat with the singles group.

He absolutely adored going to the Dog track to enjoy the dog and horse races. He had several friends from there who visited him regularly since his stroke in August of 2010.

We wouuld like to say a big THANK YOU to Eldercare Home nursing, for their kindness and help in attending to Bob’s needs. Even now they are being very supportive. Also to Golden Palms and Retama Manor who played a big part in his therapy and care after his stroke.

A special thanks to his providers, Petra Chapa and David Dinn.

Bob had a lot of true friends that stood by him from the onset of his illness and visited him often to help lift his spirits and encourage him in his recovery. These included his friends from the dog and horse track and Las Vegas Cafe in Harlingen.

A memorial will be held on June 10 at 1 p.m. at Fun-N-Sun Resort, Room 1-A. The resort is located at 1400 Zillock Rd., San Benito. This will be in celebration of his life.

Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in his name.
