festivalRIO HONDO – Prepare for some fun in the sun.

The First Annual Arroyo Days celebration will be held Saturday, June 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of Rio Hondo City Hall, located on 121 N. Arroyo Blvd. in Rio Hondo.

Sponsored by the City of Rio Hondo 4B Economic Development, the event will feature entertainment and food not to mention items up for sale in a garage sale style set-up. Games as well as arts and crafts will also be available for those wishing to wet their creative whistle. Food, such as hamburgers, fajitas, and menudo will be provided free of charge.

“It’s going to be more like a Market Days, but we’re calling it Arroyo Days since we have the arroyo next to us,” said Gus Olivares, Place 1 City Commissioner and 4B Economic Development Board Member. “Our goal is to bring in people from all over the valley. Hopefully people will come and see Rio Hondo for the first time ever.”

Olivares said there will be jumpers for children and DJ on-hand to provide music.

“I’d like to invite the communities of San Benito, Harlingen, or any of the surrounding communities to come and support this. This is its first year so there will be no charge for attendance and for the food at the booths,” Olivares added.

For more information, call Rio Hondo City Hall at (956) 748-2102.
