SAN BENITO—Jose Manuel Rodriguez, 76, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on March 19, 1935 in San Benito, TX.
He was the manager at Johnny & John Tire Shop in Olmito for many years. He served in United States Army during the Korean conflict in 1954-1956. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who was loved dearly by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel M. and Maria Escobedo Rodriguez; brother, Raul E. Rodriguez; his brother-in-law, Ruben L. Garcia, Sr.; and his niece Norma G. Cruz.
He is survived by his wife, Consuelo Gracia Rodriguez; his children: Rolando (Neomi) Rodriguez, Jose Manuel Rodriguez, Jr., and Leticia Gomez; his grandchildren: Lauren Gomez, Semina Rodriguez, and Rolando Manuel Rodriguez ; his sisters Olga R. (Ruben +) Garcia and Tencha R. (Aroldo) Aguilar; as well as other extended family.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Military honors was conducted at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home under the direction of American Legion Post 43 of Brownsville.
Mass of resurrection will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes.
Serving as pallbearers were Wally Garza, Enrique Gracia, Jaime Gracia, Ruben L. Garcia, Jr.; Chuck Garcia, and Raul Rodriguez, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Aroldo D. Aguilar, David Aguilar, Jr.; George Aguilar, and Manuel Rodriguez.
