Guadalupe Juarez GarzaCEDAR HILL/SAN BENITO, TX—Guadalupe Juarez Garza, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 5:13 p.m. at her home in Cedar Hill, TX.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose S. Garza; her parents, Gregorio and Juanita Juarez; her brothers, Benito and Manuel Juarez; and her sisters, Isabel Saldana, Anita Salazar and Aurora Hines.

She is survived by her son, Jose (Lourdes) Garza, Jr. of Harlingen, TX; three daughters, Rose Mary (Jim) Garcia-Myers of Grand Prairie, TX; Linda (Armando) Marez of Rio Hondo, TX; and Josie (Herman, Sr.) Cortez of Cedar Hill, TX; six grandchildren, Robert (Dalene) Garcia, Rene Garcia, Cynthia (Victor, Sr.) Resendez, Cathy (J.D.) Fanning, Herman (Andrea) Cortez, Jr.; and Denielle Garza; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Angie Rodriguez, Dora Martin and Rosa Sanchez; and many nieces and nephews.

Lupe, as she was known to her family and friends, was born, raised and lived most of her adult and married life in San Benito. She was a very giving person. While living in San Benito she and her husband donated a lot of their time to St. Joseph Catholic Church by helping with the church festivals. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Sacred Heart Society. Lupe never met a stranger because no matter where she was, she would strike up conversations with anyone sitting next to her. Mima as she known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoyed cooking for everyone. She enjoyed attending her great grandchildren’s baseball games, soccer games, football games and volleyball events. Lupe and her husband also loved to attend dances with their best friends, the late Luis Moody and his wife, Aurora; and the late Fidel Martinez and his wife Lupe.

Visitation was held on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the holy rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. The funeral precession departed San Benito Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. mass of resurrection at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Isaac Erondu as celebrant. Committal service followed to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Garcia, Rene Garcia, Herman Cortez, Jr.; Victor Resendez, Sr.; Michael Gaskey, and Victor Resendez, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Samuel Resendez, Michael Garcia and Roy Rodriguez.

Many thanks to the American Hospice Association of Dallas, TX and their wonderful and caring staff. Also a Special Thank You to her granddaughters, Cindy Resendez and Arcelia Salazar of Dallas for taking extremely good care of her while she was at home. Thank you to our many friends and family who kept her and our family in their prayers.
