SAN BENITO, TX—Herminia Gonzales Green, 82, of San Benito, TX passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Solara Hospital in Harlingen, TX.
Herminia began her career at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen in the 1950’s and retired from RGV State Center in Harlingen after 27 years of service. Her family was her dedication in life; she inspired not only her children but her nieces, nephews, and many family friends. Her retirement years were dedicated to the care of her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Matilde and Tomasita De Leon; her daughter, Janie A. Balli Popoca; her husband, Charles Green, Jr.; and a sister, Odelia Villarreal.
She is survived by her son, Luis Gonzales Jr.; daughter, Dina Gonzales and her spouse Luis Gonzales, Sr.; stepdaughters Rosalinda Gonzales and Mary Lou Harrison; grandchildren: Janice Alyssa Pinon, Tiana Alma De Leon, Veronica Popoca, Araceli Popoca, and Miguel Angel Popoca; a brother, Matilde De Leon, Jr.; sisters, Magdalena Cisneros and Rosalinda Gorena; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX.
A funeral mass was held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Committal service followed to Ashland Memorial Cemetery in Harlingen, TX.

Six months have gone since mom passed away. She was the best mother ever. I am who I am today because of her dedication and love. Love and miss her so much.
