Elpidio GarciaSAN BENITO, TX—Elpidio Garcia, 72, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Solara Hospital in Harlingen, Texas.

He enjoyed attending the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves games when they played in Houston; as well as other sporting events. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Emilia Gonzalez Garcia; two sisters, Hortencia Herrera and Arminda Mata; and his brother, Cecelio Garcia.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Fidela M. Garcia; his five sons: Santos (Rosa) Padilla, Jose Antonio Padilla, Elpidio (Cathy) Garcia, Jr.; Ely (Lupita) Garcia, David (Minerva) Garcia; his daughter, Melissa (James) Williams; his sisters: Melida (Trinidad) Sanchez, Leonarda (Jose) Estrada, and Enedima Gonzalez; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.

Mass of resurrection will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Committal service will follow at Las Rucias Cemetery in Los Indios.
