SBCISD candidates no-shows force forum cancellation

NEWS Staff Report

ElectionsAll six San Benito CISD School Board candidates invited to participate in a community forum on Thursday did not attend the event, prompting organizers to cancel.

Leading up to the forum, local members of the Texas State Teachers Association, the nonprofit group that organized the event in coordination with the San Benito News, reported that as many as four candidates expressed interest in attending.

But according to John Hand of the TSTA, Place 1 incumbent Bob Tumberlinson could not attend due an illness while Pl. 3 trustee and School Board President Yliana G. Rodriguez was involved in an automobile accident that prevented her from participating. Rodriguez did not suffer any injuries from the accident.
