Nora Anne (Sukey) Tamayo

Nora Anne (Sukey) TamayoNora Anne (Sukey) Tamayo was born on December 23, 1951 to W. Murray and Marian Thompson in San Benito, Texas. She entered into eternal rest on September 2, 2012 in her home in San Benito.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rolando (Rolly) Tamayo, her son Chris (Cas) Tamayo, daughter Jenne Risinger (Will), and grandchildren Maverick and Daniella Risinger. She is also survived by her siblings Murray Thompson (Susan), Billy Joe Krentz (Karl), Nancy Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She graduated from San Benito and received her bachelors and master’s degree in elementary education. Sukey taught at Ed Downs Elementary for 31 years. She was a beloved and favored teacher, and influenced the lives of numerous students. Sukey loved spending time taking care of her family and enjoying the outdoors.

Visitation will be held at the Henry Thomae Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be on Thursday at First United Methodist Church of San Benito at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church of San Benito.

Funeral services are under the direction of Delta Funeral Directors family owned and operated.

    She was a wonderful co-worker and a great teacher.
    She will be greatly missed. My prayers to the family.

    Our hearts and prayers go to the Tamayo family and Ed Downs family. We have lost a great teacher that impacted so many of our children’s lives. She was also a beautiful person. We are so honored our daughters had the priviledge of being her former students..Mrs. Tamayo, you will be forever missed and our children will make you proud, you can count on that.
