A Rio Hondo man was arrested by deputies of the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, January 20, for allegedly sexually assaulting two young girls.

Nineteen-year-old Eloy Galvez was accused of sexually assaulting two sisters, the oldest of whom was 6-years-old. Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio reported that Galvez had access to the children inside their home.

“The guy started fondling the kids,” Lucio said. “He told them not to say anything and he would buy them a dog and a rabbit.”

According to Lucio, one of the girls made an outcry to their mother regarding the alleged sexual assault.

Galvez was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child; his bond was set at $50,000 per count and is currently incarcerated at the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito.
