The San Benito High School boys varsity track team competed at the Flying W Track Relays held at PSJA Stadium on Saturday, March 2.
Rafael Duenes placed first in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9.55.56, while Aaron Garcia ran a time of 10.33.36.
Competing in the 400 meter relay were Isaac Osorio, Armando Medrano, JD Alonzo and Gabriel Vasquez, who placed first with a time of 44.37. Gabriel Noyola placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.73.
Competing in the 800 meter run was Jonathan Guzman who ran a time of 2.36.08, Jonathan Alegria who ran a time of 2.36.08 and John Allen who ran a time of 2.32.94.
Julian Vasquez placed fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.46 while Nate Mireles ran a time of 11.72 and Isaac Osorio ran a time of 11.89. Competing in the 400 meter dash were Guzman who placed first with a time of 53.28, Jonathan Alegria who placed fourth with a time of 53.28 and Nate Mireles who placed fifth with a time of 57.76.
Noyola placed first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.38. Jamal Garza placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.41 while Julian Vasquez placed fourth with a time of 24.12.
Placing first in the 1600 meter run was Rafael Duenes with a time of 4.33.22, while Aaron Garcia ran a time of 4.47.31. Placing first in the 800 meter relay were Garza, Medrano, Alonzo and Gabriel Vasquez who finished with a time of 1.32.40.
Competing in the 1600 meter relay were Jacob Flores, Medrano, Guzman and Gabriel Vasquez who placed fourth with a time of 3.38.43.
Enrique Rodriguez placed first in the shot put with a throw of 40’6″ while Dylan Castillo placed first in the discus with a throw of 123’6”.
Mireles placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 39’10”, Juan Torres placed second with a jump of 38’3 3/4”, and Larry Molina placed third with a jump of 38’3 1/4”.
Competing in the long jump was Torres who placed sixth with a jump of 18’0 1/2”, Mireles who jumped 17’6 1/2”, and Alegria who jumped 14’6 1/2”.
Matthew Perez placed third in the high jump with a jump of 5’2”.
The team was able to capture the first place trophy with a total of 170 points.
