Cats face Grulla in bi-district round, Ladies bow out

RIO HONDO – The Rio Hondo baseball team will start its playoff run this weekend.

The Bobcats (17-11) open a Class 3A bi-district best-of-three series against the Grulla Gators out of 31-3A with Game 1 set for Thursday night at 7 p.m. Game 2 will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and if a third game is needed, it would be played 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2. All games will be played at Weslaco East High School, located off of Business 83 and Pleasantview Dr. in Weslaco.

In the meantime, history will have to wait another year for the Rio Hondo Lady Bobcats.

The Lady Cats, aiming to become the first RH softball club to win a playoff series, fell to Raymondville in two games, 5-1 and 3-2. They saw their season end at 15-17 while Raymondville moved on to play Devine in the area round.
