SBHS Graduation Ceremony postponed

Heavy rain, wind and lightning forced the 2013 San Benito High School Graduation Ceremony indoors Friday evening before yet another change of plans occurred. The event was previously scheduled at Bobby Morrow Stadium, but officials citing safety precautions decided to move the ceremony inside the school’s varsity gymnasium. It was then postponed to Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Bobby Morrow Stadium, this after many graduates and their family members were visibly distraught since only two people per graduate were allowed entry into the gym Friday. If the weather was bad to begin with, what made them think that plan B would work. Honestly, did they really think that giving students 2 tickets for parents that they would be able to fit in a gym that size. Senior classes have always been large. The whole graduation should have been cancelled to begin with and just postponed for the following day. But our board seems to have everything in control. Really! The good thing is that nobody was hurt in the crowd and graduation continued as always the following day.

My family could not get into the gym. I am disgusted at how this whole evening transpired. The ADministration put a BIG DAMPER on an event that should have been a joyous event. Strongly suggest the ADministration pay attention to the weather forecast 10 days out. Oh wait, the principal is more concern about playing pomp and circumstances on the intercom for 15 minutes during the day when the seniors were not even on campus. Good grief!
What happen to academic learning? Well there you go.. No surprises on the test results.
