LA JOYA – Any team can tell you it’s a sour feeling to sit out during the state football playoffs.

In the class 3A Division-II district playoff between Rio Hondo and Zapata, both teams can voice their displeasure.

However, both teams can also rejoice as each return to the playoffs after a short hiatus. The Bobcats (4-6) will square off with a familiar foe in the Hawks (4-6) at La Joya ISD Stadium on Friday night.

The winner of this matchup will face the winner of the Battle of the Pirates, Lytle and Sinton, in the Area round next week.
