A San Benito man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a teenage girl’s room and inappropriately touching her as she slept.

Officers with the San Benito Police Department arrested 38-year-old Felix Cosino-Correa for aggravated sexual assault of a child. According to the allegations, Correa is accused of “unlawfully making entry into a residence” and “gaining entry into” the alleged victim’s bedroom, where be allegedly touched the teenager inappropriately.

The alleged victim woke up during the assault, according to police, and quietly managed to get her sister’s attention by pinching her several times until she awoke.

It wasn’t clear as of press time Friday whether the sisters were sleeping in the same bed where Correa allegedly assaulted the teen.

For fear of being harmed, the sister pretended to be asleep, police reported.

Correa allegedly fled the home in a light blue Jeep later found at his residence on the 100 block of Cornejo Drive.

The alleged victim identified the suspect because he had reportedly conducted construction work for her family’s residence for the past month.

Police obtained two warrants for Correa for aggravated sexual assault of a child, burglary of a habitation and committing a felony sex offense.

Police arrested Correa on Thursday, Sept. 18 at his residence without incident. He was arraigned by Judge Benjamin Yudesis and his bond was set at $100,000.

Police have not released the age of the victim.

According to the statement issued by the SBPD, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on Correa, who has since been transported to the Cameron County Detention Center in Olmito.

Police did say that Correa’s staying in the U.S. is currently being questioned by U.S. Homeland Security.
