The true identity of a man previously said to be 63-year-old Sergio Olivares — arrested on Saturday — remains unknown, according to Sergeant Dave Osborne with the Harlingen Police Department. Police suspect that he may be using an alias.
Olivares was apprehended on Jan. 3 in connection to a shooting death the night before.
Around 8:35 p.m. on Jan. 2, Harlingen police responded to a call near the Harlingen Hotel Events Center on West Expressway 83 in reference to shots fired.
