Nereyda “Nery” Pina-Lopez,

SAN BENITO, TX:

Nereyda “Nery” Pina-Lopez, age 57, died on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.  

Nery was born March 18, 1958 in Mexico to Raul Pina Sr., and Exiquia Valdez de Pina.  She married Rocky Lopez in 1998.  Nery was an accountant with Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville and was a member of Valley International Christian Church.  She loved to shop…especially at Kohls, bake, crafts and everything in planning or organizing parties.  Christmas time was her favorite time of the year and enjoyed spoiling the kids around her.

Nery is survived by her husband Rocky Edgar Lopez; son Rocky Edgar Lopez Jr. of San Benito; her mother Exiquia Valdez de Pina of San Benito; sisters Zobeyda Morales of San Benito, Yolanda Guillen of San Benito, Teresa Guerra of Brownsville, Blanca Chapa of Blackfoot, ID, Martha Reyna of Brownsville, Sonia Flores of Harlingen; her brother Raul Pina Jr. of Weslaco; and nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts. She is also survived by her extended family, her mother-in-law Mrs. Lopez, brother-in-law Juan Lopez, sister-in-law Rosie Lopez, nieces and nephews.

Nery is joins her father Raul Pina Sr., her sisters Rosalinda Mata and Maria de la luz Pina; her maternal and paternal grandparents, Aurelio and Emilia Valdez and Acension and Teresa Pina; and her aunt Amparo Pina in eternal life .

Visitation will be held between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 with a prayer service at seven o’clock Wednesday evening at San Benito Funeral Home in San Benito, TX.

Funeral services will commence on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  Interment will follow Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
