Superintendent’s 3-year plan revealed

In yet another attempt to avoid a drastic reduction in staff, Superintendent Dr. Marc A. Puig revealed his 3-year plan to the San Benito CISD Board on Thursday, aiming at attrition budgeting, selecting a new consultant for the healthcare budget, adopting staff models for all positions, and the reorganization of administrative positions as answers for the problems. The opportunity to avoid a mass reduction of staff and instead spread out the losses over a three-year period,  as well minimize the amount of needed reduction,  unanimously satisfied the board as they were all eager to get the process started.

Two things WILL occur: massive layoffs and a bond issue. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Yliana and Fatima did this to the community. Let all VOTERS REMEMBER THAT YLIANA AND FATIMA WERE IN CONTROL OF SBCISD.
It is time to VOTE THEM OUT!

make no mistake, the knockout is coming. it just won’t be a devastating head blow w/a 1st rd KO ala mike tyson. it’s gonna go a few rds like some lightweight fight, but the layoffs will come. you can’t expect everyone to simply move on and not be backfilled. people gotta work, and not all are looking to make a change. it is what it is. it’s not cool the damage the 4 (june, julian, fatima, & yliana) who were the majority just last year did. talk about unqualified people holding office. they severely damaged a fragile san benny economy and negatively affected the lives of good people and their families. words can’t express just how bad the damage they caused is. now good people will be looking for work elsewhere, and their family lives will be changed forever. voting smart is important. time to get rid of the remaining two in office, and hopefully SB can start the rebuilding process.

    1. You want talk about damage, let’s not forget all the damage mr. Limon did while being micro managed. All the political favors, over staffing and all the over time that was given to Tumberlinson supporters. Oscar Medrano ruined our school district when he introduced this managed healthcare plan to our school district, but political favors.. It was bound to fail from the beginning due to lack of expertise in insurance.Anna Cruz purchasing a 1 million dollar program that is not research based and extremely not effective learning tool for our teachers and children. It was simply a self gain move on her part! So put the blame where the blame belongs. Joe G, Michael Vargas, Anna Cruz must not get elected.

@Juan: It sure is. All Dr. Puig and those board members did was set this up for later. Do not be surprised if they raise our TAXES when they create the district budget…. we can just see it coming.
    Good Job Board Members!

People without a contract may not have a job and if people leave their positions will not be filled stated the supt.

Soooooo, OVER CROWDED CLASSROOMS? Did anyone else hear the students going to Harlingen, Brownsville and Rio Hondo?
Oh you bet they will. They already have this past year.
    What happened to this District?
Those running for re-election and all board members are the reason!
    Vote smart San Benito, please

The superintendent’s tune changed because a board member who is running for re-election went to see him.
You can only imagine who it was.
All he did was SCARE ALL SBCISD EMPLOYEES.

All this did was make sure that nothing happened within the next few weeks as the school election is heating up.

For all the hoopla this board did in spending money on a superintendent search (LOTS OF MONEY), they just spent and spent.

For Yliana, Anna, and Fatima to even think about running again just shows what kind of people they are. No regard for any employee or taxpayers of this district.

This WHOLE BOARD is responsible for the staff NOT GETTING A RAISE in YET ANOTHER 3 YEARS!. Look around the Valley, even one else is just laughing at SBCISD. We have good, good employees… very sad that they are afraid to leave for a district that will appreciate them.

So I guess we will stay over staffed and of course no raise so we will be stagnant for another 3 years .

    1. Why did Dr. Puig scare the poor staff into thinking that they may be out of a job without fully assessing the situation? He was so set on joining TRS Active Care. Why?

    2. There’s a rumor that he already extended Principals’ contracts by two years. If so, why so soon? He doesn’t know them long enough to evaluate their performance. But our poor teachers were not given contracts, instead, they have worried these last two weeks about whether they would have a job after May.

    3. This 3-year plan sounds great…if it works. What is plan B? Hopefully there is no natural disaster or other type of reason, like health insurance, to have to use the fund balance again.

    Just thinking out loud.
