SPECIAL TO THE NEWS
“Tradition doesn’t graduate” has long been the slogan for San Benito Lady ’Hound softball and with good reason.
If anyone needed a little reminder, they got it on Thursday night.
San Benito got some early offense and did its thing defensively in a 6-1 victory over Harlingen South at Lady ’Hound Field.
With the win, the girls improved to 21-1 overall on the season and 13-0 in District 32-6A, clinching the fifth consecutive district championship and the 10th in the program’s history heading into Friday’s regular season finale against Brownsville Rivera.
As the 32-6A champion, San Benito will face Weslaco East next week in the Class 6A bi-district playoffs. Particulars will be ironed out this weekend or early next week.
