Blue Bell Ice Cream has announced a voluntary recall on all items, including ice cream, frozen yogurt, and frozen snacks because of “the potential to be contaminated with Listeria  monocytogenes,” a bacteria that causes the sometimes fatal infection, listeria. While no students at SBCISD have been reported infected, a few schools within the District do carry Blue Bell items for fundraisers and such and have been instructed to cease all Blue Bell sales at this time.

Jana Landrum, the Child Nutrition Program Director for SBCISD, is handling the recall of all the products within the district but doesn’t think it will have much of a financial effect if any.
