Emma Porter

SAN BENITO—Emma Porter, born April 9, 1922, passed onto eternal rest on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the age  emma 001of 93. She is finally at peace and no longer in pain.
Emma, a native of San Benito, was a faithful bookkeeper for over 40 years at Fausto’s Lumber Company in San Benito and made her way to Washington, D.C. during the war to work at the Pentagon as a stenographer for the War Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Porter; her parents, James and Anita Ratliff; her brothers Charlie Ratliff, James Ratliff, Nelson Ratliff, and a sister, Evelyn Ratliff. Also preceding her in death were two half-brothers, Mateo Mancillas and Federico Ratliff.
She is survived by her son, Wayne K. Porter and Mina Porter, his wife, and two grandchildren, Michael Wayne and Kelly Porter along with a sister-in-law, Leonora Ratliff and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
Her family wishes to thank all of her friends and relatives who have supported her over the years and we know she will be missed by many.
