A San Benito police dispatcher turned herself in on Thursday after discovering that a warrant for her arrest had been issued this week.

According to a press release issued by the San Benito Police Department, 43-year old Maricela H. Ruiz of San Bento was arrested and charged for the offense of Harassment by telephone after a complaint was made by a 47-year old woman from San Benito on Wednesday, November 11th.

According to Detective Rogelio Banda, police investigators obtained a warrant for Ruiz’s arrest after she left several text messages and voicemails “of graphic nature” on the woman’s phone.   “It was several voice mails and text messages with a lot of profanity,” Banda said, noting that there was no actual threats made. “Any time there is consistent unwanted contact of this nature, it’s considered harassment.”
