Gunnery Sergeant Alfonso Hernandez, Sr. was born Nov. 14, 1953 and served his country for 23 years in the USMC. He was stationed at Paris Island, South Carolina, Camp Pendleton, CA, and Quantico, Virginia. Alfonso served in Desert Strom Beirut and Vietnam. He was drafted in 1972-1993 and served proudly.
Alfonso was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Eva Hernandez; sister, Elizabeth Hernandez; uncles, Ramiro and Hernan Sauceda; and mother-in-law, Anita L. Delgado.
He is survived by his wife, Delia Hernandez; children, Alfonso (Priscilla) Hernandez, Heather Lynn Hernandez, and Julian MTS Hernandez; and numerous grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home, 1400 W. Hwy 77, San Benito, Texas 78586 in San Benito, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Primera Iglesia Bautista in San Benito, TX, with Pastor Joel Garcia officiating and full military honors by American Legion Post#205. Services will conclude at the church.
