One month after a San Benito mother was charged with a 1st degree felony in connection with the death of her 7-month infant child, yet another local mother is being charged for a similar crime.
Police confirmed Thursday afternoon that 28-year old Cynthia Montoya of San Benito was taken into custody today, just eight days after her 2-month old baby boy was taken off life support.
Montoya was originally under investigation for possible negligence charges after nurses reported she brought in the baby boy unresponsive and said that the baby “was very dirty, had a mottled color and was found to be septic.”
The infant was first taken to the hospital back on Saturday, April 23.
