Apple Locator app helps track down alleged thieves

Two local men were arrested on several felony charges this past week after an item they allegedly stole was tracked down using an application called “Apple Locator.”

According to San Benito police, 19-year old Christian Garcia and 20-year old Jesus Garcia were arrested on charges of theft, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of body armor after an investigation led authorities to a residence off the 400 block of Commerce Street, where they recovered a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, a blue in color bullet proof vest and brass knuckles.

According to the victim, several items were stolen from her vehicle back on May 22nd off the 600 block of Winchell Street, but it was not until June 5th when she was able to track down a laptop that had been taken using an application called “Apple Locator.” The laptop was located at a residence in Brownsville after a male was paid by the suspects to unlock the pass code, according to police. The suspects had previous felony criminal records and were charged with 3rd degree felony charges.

They were arraigned by Judge Benjamin Yudesis and a $100,000 bond was set for Christian Garcia annd a $72,000 bond was set for Jesus Garcia.
