Rio Hondo Black and San Benito Purple wrapped up their fourth week of 7 on 7 on Thursday. With just two weeks left in their summer season, both squads are continuing to make the most of their games in terms of improving skills and team chemistry.

San Benito Purple once again left all spectators in awe as they extended their undefeated record. On Tuesday, in a 40-6 blowout against Progreso, SBP had a stellar night on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Richard Moreno was credited with four interceptions and Emilio Garza with one pick six, while Erick Retta had an excellent game at quarterback. On Thursday, SBP kept their success going with a 39-16 win versus San Benito Gold. The positive atmosphere on San Benito Purple’s end was obvious; the boys were having fun while working on getting better. Next, SBP will play Harlingen South Orange on Tuesday at 7:00 pm and Lyford on Thursday, also at 7:00 pm.

Rio Hondo Black started off Week 4 by taking on Santa Rosa Tuesday evening. Following a 48-6 victory, RHB boasted a 6-2 record heading into Thursday’s heavily-anticipated match against Harlingen Red. Thursday’s game was a definite nail-biter—Rio Hondo Black only lost by a tally of 28-26. Despite the loss, RHB still exhibited solid defensive execution and accurate throws from quarterback John Bush. In their upcoming games, RHB will face Rio Hondo Gold at 9:00 pm on Tuesday and Harlingen White at 9:00 pm on Thursday.Bobcats logo
