Hilda Yolanda Nunez Gonzalez pic1Hilda Yolanda Nunez Gonzalez of San Antonio, Texas passed away Monday, February 14, 2011. She was born August 8, 1947 in Poblado Anahuac, Tamualipas Mexico. Hilda was a PROUD 1970 graduate of San Benito High School.

She is preceded in death by her father; Felix L. Nunez and survived by her loving mother, Maria C. Nunez, her husband (high school sweetheart) Saul R. Gonzalez, her daughter, Sonia Y. Martinez (Mark A. Martinez) Son Saúl S. González (Judy González) Grandchildren, Lorenzo C. González, Gilbert R. Pena Jr. Martin Torres III, Rene A. Martinez, Savian B. Martinez, Milagros R. Martinez, 1 brother, Harry Nuñez (Gloria), 6 sisters; Rosa Ruiz (Manuel), Ofelia Reyna, Paulita Gonzales (Francisco †) of San Benito, TX, Leticia Quiroga (Lou) Austin, TX, and Bertha Ybarra (Elias) and Mary Gonzales (Mario†) both of Harlingen, TX. Godchildren: Lindsey N. Quiroga, Robert Eric Quiroga, Manuel Reyna IV, Samantha R. Gonzales, Yvette M. DeChavez, Reynaldo Guajardo and Pablo J. Figueroa and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her best friend and caregiver, Hellen.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and most of all watching her husband and son coach sports. Hilda was considered the “TEAM GRANDMA” for all the sports her grandchildren participated in.

Hilda will forever be remembered as a beautiful woman with a heart full of love, laughter, and compassion for all those dear to her. She loved nothing more than to surround herself with loved ones, whether it was playing Chalupa with her sisters who adored her or dancing to Tejano music with the love of her life or spending quality time with her children , Sonia and Saulito. She proved to everyone that true love exists, that your strength is through your faith, and that family is the key to happiness. Her presence alone brought comfort and peace to your heart and her spirit was inspiring. She was the most unselfish, loving woman whose life held a special place in the hearts of her loved ones. The angels have taken the best and her family waits to see her in heaven: One Sweet Day.

A memorial mass will be on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito, TX. A rosary and memorial service was held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX.
