The hot south Texas humidity was out in full effect Friday morning, but that didn’t stop a determined group of athletes from shining at the first ever San Benito Special Olympic Games. With middle school and high school students competing in events such as the softball throw, standing broad jump, and a 50-meter run, the district put together what they hope is the first of many such events.
“We just wanted to have the students get involved with a mini event so they can plan and look forward to being in the actual Special Olympics later on… hopefully in a few years we can invite other schools to this mini Special Olympics
