City/County discusses Los Indios Bridge project

In an effort to bring more traffic to the Los Indios Free Trade Bridge, and in turn boost revenue for the City, The Harlingen-San Benito Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), along with the Secretary of State’s Office, and Cameron County officials, have started the process of bringing new cold storage facilities to the area to attract fresh and frozen produce shippers. According to City officials, the amount of traffic passing through the bridge, which is partially owned by Cameron County, the City of San Benito, and Harlingen, is far too low compared to other such bridges.
